Hi everyone, a few od you may be familiar with famed scientists Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw. Some may not be. They in large part created what is now commonly referred to as anti-aging science back in the 1970s with the publication of their massive Life Extension book. I was but a pup when it came out. Years later, it became a bible for yorus truly - as well as anything they would write over the last thirty years.

The popularity of nutritional supplementation as a means to decrease, postpone, or reverse the human aging process is generally relegated to these two pioneers and their decades of work that was years ahead of everyone else at the time. They have continued to make new discoveries the years since. In the link below you can access their news site regarding nutritional studies and anti-aging research - always recommended. But the purpose of this post is to turn you on to something even more interesting that they have uncovered. An interesting socio-political site called shadow sites. Fascinating political and governmental statistical research. Just an FYI.

Shadow Government Statistics: Tells You Much More About the Economy Than What the Government Tells You

Ever wonder whether the rate of inflation is really what the feds say it is or whether their “Consumer Price Index” is an accurate picture of prices consumers are paying? This Web site is John Williams’ Shadow Government Statistics at http://www.shadowstats.com/section/commentaries. You get information such as what inflation looks like using the old method of government estimation as compared to the modifications put in to reduce the communication of data on price volatility. For example, under the new rules, food and energy prices are not counted in the calculation of the Consumer Price Index. (You show us somebody who doesn’t buy food or energy and we’ll show you a dead body.) This Web site is a great source of corrective information to help you maintain a grip on economic reality.

According to Mr. Williams’s calculation, using the old government rules, inflation is now about 10%, much worse than the feds are admitting. The Federal Reserve is pumping immense amounts of money into the economy via Federal Reserve banks that lend money to other banks. This new money, however, does not represent any actual goods or services. More money chasing the same or fewer goods and services results in higher prices. A 10% rate of inflation means that, unless you can find something to put your money into that will give you a return of 10% after taxes, you are better off spending the money right away on tangible things that are likely to hold their value better than the dollar.

From the Flash Update, December 28, 2007:
Help-Wanted Advertising Plunges to Lowest Level Ever

From the December 2007 edition:

  • Actual 2007 Federal Deficit Topped $4.0 Trillion
  • Fed Allows Strongest Money Growth in 36 Years
  • D&S note: Money growth is known as M3. The M3 amount was given out publicly by the Federal Reserve Board in its usual reports until last June, when M3 was running at about 9%. M3 was increased to 14% after June, when M3 had disappeared from the Federal Reserve Board reports. The Fed claimed that it discontinued reporting M3 to save $14 million a year. Of course, the economic decisions people have been making in the absence of a clear picture of the increase in the money supply (and its effects on prices) are likely to result in costs to the public from economic miscalculations far in excess of $14 million a year.

    Dear TuneInTurnOnHelpOut.org member,

As part of its updated second quarter mission statement today, Fox News declared that it is still intent on injecting racism, prejudice, and fear into America’s political dialogue say several Fox representatives. Luckily there is something the American people can still do about it… if you’re a racist of course, just watch more FOX! YUM! But if not, read on. And as always keep on fighting the good fight whoever and wherever you are.

We usually don’t pick sides when it comes to politics believing rightly so that politics is politics and either side you’re on if you’re dumb enough to choose one of those ridiculously lousy choices then you get what you deserve.  Sort of a Clinton versus Bush set up if you can imagine something so  horrifying without puking  up this morning’s breakfast… either way you’re screwed.

But we are going to break with our time honored tradition here just once and throw some support to the Dems through promoting this work by MoveOn.org simply because we feel that they are making some valid points. So read on children and let’s get these sly Foxs our of Dodge and our of our lives once and for all.

    Dear MoveOn member,

Right now, FOX is trying to paint Barack Obama as foreign, un-American, suspicious, and scary. They’re trying to send Americans the message that our country’s first viable black candidate for President is not “one of us.”

We’ve seen this before from FOX. They won’t stop until it becomes too painful to continue—until the public calls them out and advertisers start getting worried.

Now is the time to draw a line in the sand by putting FOX on notice that their behavior won’t be tolerated. Nearly 100,000 Americans have already expressed their outrage. Can you express yours by adding your name to this message?

“FOX must stop injecting racism, prejudice, and fear into our political dialogue. We intend to hold FOX, its advertisers, and its personalities accountable for FOX’s attempts to smear the Obamas.”

Clicking here will sign the petition:

FOX’s longtime pattern of smearing Obama and the black community is well documented.1 But the outrageous moments have increased in the last month.

First, a paid FOX commentator accidentally confused “Obama” with “Osama” and then joked on the air about killing Obama.2 Next, a FOX anchor said a playful fist bump by Barack and Michelle Obama could be a “terrorist fist jab.”3 And then, FOX called Michelle Obama “Obama’s baby mama”—slang for an unmarried mother of a man’s child, and a clear attempt to associate the Obamas with negative stereotypes about black people.4

If you know others who’d find FOX’s recent actions despicable, please ask them to sign the petition too. The more people who sign, the bigger our impact will be.

Our friends at ColorOfChange.org—an online advocacy group focused on the issues of importance to the black community—are leading this charge. They have already collected nearly 100,000 names to deliver as a group to FOX’s headquarters (in front of other media cameras, so FOX feels more heat). Here’s how they describe the situation:

After each of the incidents mentioned [above], FOX issued some form of weak apology. But what does it mean when you slap someone in the face, apologize the next day, then slap them again? It means the apology is meaningless. Now is the time to call out FOX for these attacks and their fake apologies. The first stop is FOX. Next will be their advertisers and the FCC. If we don’t push back now, we will see more of the same from now until November. Please join us to demand that FOX answer for its behavior:

    Thanks for all you do.
